Joseph Haydn: The “Creation” Fugue
for solo guitar.
Transcribed, in the style of Fernando Sor, by Mark Delpriora
The Haydn fugue feels a lot like Sor’s study in E flat op. 29 (18 in the Segovia collection).
The themes lend themselves to the guitar and the key sounds great.
The open E, A and D strings are leading tones in F, B flat and E flat so
the vibrancy of the open string sound in that context is refreshing.
